March 29 , 2005 - La Tour to Host Winemaker Dinner with Domaine Serene April 7th During the 15th Annual Taste of Vail

Vail, CO - At 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2005, Vail's La Tour Restaurant & Bar is hosting what promises to be a spectacular winemaker dinner during the 15th Annual Taste of Vail, when this contemporary French American restaurant "where the chef's go to eat" teams up with Domaine Serene from the Dundee Hills of Oregon, known for its world-famous Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

"La Tour is honored to have Domaine Serene's winemaker come and pour their incredible wines to pair with our food during this fabulous dinner we have planned for our guests," said Paul Ferzacca, executive chef/owner of La Tour.

Ferzacca explained that he was part of a blind tasting by 37 wine industry and food professionals from throughout the United States last June in which Domaine Serene Pinot Noir wines shocked the panel of experts by crushing the Grand Cru Burgundy wines of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti from France. In tasting flights from 1998, 1999 and 2000 vintages, Domaine Serene wines swept the tastings, beating out the very expensive Domaine de la Romanee-Conti wines, considered by most experts as the worldwide gold standard for Pinot Noir wines.

"The tasting panel was comprised of sommeliers, restaurateurs, wine retailers and distributors from 22 states across the country. To have this broad cross-section of experts choose Domaine Serene in a blind taste over what most consider the best Pinot Noir in the world is quite an endorsement for Domaine Serene," Ferzacca said. "You can see why we're so excited to pair our exquisite food with this spectacular wine." Tony Rynders, the winemaker at Domaine Serene, will be in attendance to talk about each of his wines served during the dinner at La Tour on April 7. La Tour is located in the heart of Vail Village. The cost per person for the winemaker dinner is $135, excluding taxes and gratuity. Reservations can be made by calling La Tour at 970-476-4403 and asking for winemaker dinner reservations or send email to info@latour-vail.com. Chef Paul Ferzacca will be serving hors d'oeuvres and a three-course menu followed by cheese, truffles and cookies - all paired with acclaimed Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines from Domaine Serene.
